Lowering her eyes
she strums her soul in quiet
contemplating truths
a slim and long neck
with drum-like rounded body
connects the Geisha
breath and innocence
of playful innuendos
teasing all seasons
she chants of flowers
bringing beauty to the heart
as a song of love
After painting a soft wash of neutral colors for the background, I sketched the Geisha so I could create guidelines for painting details. I haven’t mastered painting people without drawing them first. I loved painting this Geisha with her shamisen and contemplative eyes.

I love the expression on her face — I’m only learning to draw, so I’m always in awe of someone who can really get the essence of the human figure. Very nicely done.

A beautiful portrait, I think you have captured her perfectly, she has real presence and the flowing words accompany so well.
The eyes are filled with life. Nice one, Genece.
O Genece! She is lovely and the poem too. Thank you. I also want to keep your landscape somewhere forever in the mind. Fran
Oh, Genece, your geisha is beautiful. She exudes a serenity that brings peace to the viewer. I would never know that you haven’t been painting people forever.

Lovely–I almost expect to hear music come spilling out of the painting.
She’s just beautiful, Genece.
the eyes say it all! lovely work!
Your new emphasis on all that is Japanese is fascinating Genece. I am particularly taken with this Geisha. Her spirit leaps from the page.
The drawing/painting combo has a lovely effect. She’s gorgeous.
I would never have guessed that you are not used to drawing people, this is beautiful.
