on blue misty seas
beauty is hidden from view
movement happens here
I’ve been working on new techniques to create water. In this painting, I used Oil Pastels from Corel Painter X to paint a wavy, smeary sea. Then, I used watercolors and flat brush over the sea in a deeper blue. I saved the file and re-opened in Photoshop, using the Liquify Filter to create movement in the color. Back to Corel Painter X, I used an Airbrush brush strokes in soft white. The mountains were painted with layers of color using Oil Pastel, Watercolor and Acrylic brushes. Once the painting was complete, I used the Watercolor Effects in Photoshop to give it texture and intensity.
Oh yes, the soft light on the right side came from Corel PhotoPaint — a technique called “sparkle”.
My goal in landscapes is to create a feeling of sanctuary — a feeling of stillness, beauty and grace.

Genece, this one is just magical. I want to climb into it and stay for a while.
Funny, after painting landscapes I always feel they’re not quite good enough because they are usually not as defined in line as my florals. Yet, I love the landscapes dreamy quality I seem to paint.
Beautifully done. Thank you, Genece, for sharing your technique. Oh, and I do envy you your fountain…it’ll stimilate your muse, not that yours needs any outside stimulation. It seems to be powered up all the time.

Genece, this is stunning, you’ve definately created a feeling of sanctuary.
You got it Genece
You’ve definitely achieved your goal.
Genece, I am so appreciative of your explanations on how you achieve certain effects. In fact, you are so skillful with the light on water especially. There is an almost photographic realism going on here. Wonderful.
Your landscapes are so dreamy - I need more dreamy in my crazy life these days!
