Standing Motionless

between misty trees
the mud yields to heron tracks
along the river’s bank
voices of wilderness,
as wise silent sentinels,
kiss the rich black earth
who soon are
scratching delicate
rituals in sacred waves
across nightly skies
hushed by soft colors
of turquoise blue and orange
dripping in stillness
while fishing in
supple and lithe moves
marked by the effortless grace
of their wide winged spread
standing motionless

fluid motion sways in
elegant simplicity
toning the soul’s breath

deep noble quiet
accepts the serenity
from understanding
grace within movement
an effortless perfection
unseen and unheard

turmoil put to rest
by greater authority
fulfilled in manner

refined and shaped by
understated elegance
so correct and pure

eloquent silence
underlying common place
appearances take hold

of tranquil stillness
and articulate crispness
